#Mesa Neighborhood Info & Listings #SantaBarbara

Welcome to the Mesa, one of Santa Barbara’s favorite neighborhoods! In the 1950s and ’60s, the Mesa was considered too far from downtown for most people’s taste, but over the years the commercial district of the Mesa has created a village atmosphere all its own. Now it’s one of the favorite areas of town –with ocean views and proximity to the beach being big draws when people are looking for a place to call home. This is where you’ll see plenty of cyclists out and about, groups enjoying Shoreline Park on the bluffs above the beach, runners and running events, and always those great views across the Pacific to the islands. Unless it’s foggy, and then you hunker down with a mug of tea, take a walk, and have friends over for dinner. With the views, laid-back lifestyle, restaurants, Lazy Acres market and a conventional supermarket, a number of decent restaurants, neighborhood bar, coffee house and more… the Mesa is a fun and convenient location with a local surf-town vibe.

Pricing for Mesa properties can start in the $400,000’s for simple condominiums, and may be $800,000 or more for houses that need rehabbing. An average-sized turnkey home (in Santa Barbara that’s about 1400-1800sf) will fetch anywhere from $900,000 to $1.5 million, depending on updating and its location on the Mesa. Luxury homes can be priced to about $3 million. Here are some current listings that can give you a good idea of home prices in this desirable neighborhood:
