One of my greatest joys living in Santa Barbara is a long beach walk in November or December, when the tide gets really low, the beach is almost deserted, the weather is pretty warm (sometimes quite warm until evening), the approaching sunset is going to be absolutely stunning, and the ocean is as peaceful as a lake. Haskells Beach, reached from the public beach access at Bacara Resort, is my absolute favorite spot.
You can walk for hours, miles and miles up the Gaviota Coast, seeing very few folks. This is a perfect way to spend time reconnecting with a friend or two, taking a lunch or even dinner picnic along. In contrast to these peaceful periods, the occasional winter storm rolls through, and Haskells is known for fantastic surf.
